She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir, helped with the Mission Mart, and sang with the Golden Notes. He was the fourth child born to Jacob R. and Susana (Friesen) Friesen. Daniel G. Bayha, age 66, passed away September 18, 2019, at his Meade, Kansas, residence. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2005. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2005. Mary was always involved in the communities where she lived. She lived with Louetta in Washington for 4 years. At the University of Wisconsin, Bill completed residencies in neurology and radiology, followed by two fellowships in neuroradiology in Madison, Wis., and Oslo, Norway. Mary, the first of four children, was born October 1, 1932 to Alfred (Fred) and Edna Lesh Collingwood. He served one tour in Kosovo from August, 1990 until 2000, two tours in Kabul, Afghanistan, the first tour was from April 28, 2002 until October 5, 2002, and the second from March 30, 2003 until July 27, 2003, a tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan, from January 16, 2004 until August 1, 2004, and a training mission to the Jordan/Iraqi border to train Iraqi soldiers from August, 2004 until October, 2004 before resigning in 2005. He was a Godly man who enjoyed church and being with fellow Christians. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. He was then sent to Liberal, Kansas, as a supply Sergeant to open an Air Force base for the B-24s. He had four children, three grandsons, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. After her schooling, she began her career as a waitress, working at several restaurants. A childhood highlight was seeing Colorado Pete and Millie and Sue perform live, three nights in a row, at the Meade County Auditorium. She later married Darryl Ball on July 14, 2017 in Loveland, Colorado. He and Margaret, and later Viola, spent many winters at RGBI helping obtain produce for the school. She is preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Irene Wells; and two brothers, William Wells, and James Thurman. He will be remembered for his friendship, jokes, sense of humor, pranks, and life lessons he conveyed through actions and words. Later working for Meade County Sheriff’s Office and Courthouse. After their marriage, the couple made their home in several rural locations, and then retired to their home in the town of Meade. Eleven grandchildren and 12+ great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the Celebration Church. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including sewing, knitting, quilting, rosary making and scrapbooking. There she met Charlie Angell, and did what she said she would never do: she married a Western Kansas Wheat farmer on September 18, 1949. Alice said it was ‘love at first sight’ and married him only 10 days later on September 27, 1954 in Hooker, Oklahoma. Hal was born in Fowler, Kansas, on October 30, 1932, to Ralph William and Dorothy Grace (Shelhammer) Dewell. As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1952. Mary’s timeline was always her own and she was not to be hurried. Joan spent nearly 4 decades helping educate Kansas’ youth. Viola also attended 3 terms of Summer Institute of Linguistics in Norman, Oklahoma. Gerald spent many years teaching and coaching in Kansas public schools in Sylvia, Burton, Plains, Ulysses, and Winfield. She was born July 1, 1927, at Oswego, Kansas, the daughter of Henry Clay and Mary Ellen (Wertz) Stice. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Herring and Fern Beckerman; and a brother, Harold (Bud) Hoffman. Dr. Halburt Linwood Dewell passed away peacefully on October 23, 2020 at 12:34 a.m., surrounded by family. While playing football at New Mexico State, they were the Sun Bowl Champions in 1959 – 1960. Dora May Wilson, age 94, passed away early Thursday morning, August 15, 2019, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas. Anna attended Lakeview Elementary School of Fowler, Kansas, for grades one to eight. In June, 1986, Rodney and ex-wife, Nancy Feldman, started Back Room Printing. Rosa taught school in both Fowler and Meade. She later attended beauty school in Dodge City, Kansas. He was born March 12, 1922 in Sitka, Kansas to James William Franks and Kitty Kipp. On September 22, 1979, she married Frank Alvarado at Canoga Park, California. Richard D. Lee, age 79, passed away Saturday morning, October 20, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas. She enjoyed scrapbooking, cooking, camping, and spending time with her family, friends, her grandchildren, and most importantly, the birth of her great-grandson. Bill loved to garden and could grow any kind of vegetable and any type of flower. He always had time to visit with anyone that happened to come over or pass by where he was working. She survives. She was a resident of Burnet, Texas and Minneola. In 1960 they adopted 2 brothers and their sister while living in the Shoshone, ID area. In 1929 the family moved to Meade, Kansas, where Duane graduated from Meade High School in 1943. He attended the Plains Grade School and graduated from the Plains High School in 1949. She graduated from Rusk Grade School and Colby High School in Colby, Wisconsin. She is survived by two sons, Robbie Hawley and wife Stacy of Cimarron, and Rockie Hawley and wife Janice of rural Meade; a daughter, Georgia Bateman of Meade; her mother Leola Butler Brown of Nickerson, Kansas; two brothers, David Butler of Pampa, Texas, and Walter Butler of Emporia, Kansas; three sisters, Sue Tucker of Burr Oak, Kansas, Diana Sneed of Nickerson, Kansas, and Marvina Schimmels of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Ashlie, Tyler, Emili, Krysta, Raegan, Raechal, Troy, Zachary, and Liz; and three great-grandchildren, Paisley, William, and Leighton. In later years, he also continued his families baking business, Bartel Bake Shop. Duane passed away on July 2, 2018. In 1974 Louetta and Ronnie Shiplet with two sons moved to Copeland where Ronnie farmed with Loren until they moved back to Washington State in 1983, spending summers in Alaska working. As a young girl she attended school in Kendall, Kansas, graduating from Kendall High School in 1944. Gerald was born in Hooker, OK on May 21, 1925 to Dayton and Caroline (Tatro) Raines. When he returned to Meade in 1947, he joined his father Roy in the family grocery store. Interment will follow the service in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade. Jay loved a broad range of music from opera to country western and enjoyed playing violin, guitar, drums, hammered dulcimer and harmonica, never forgetting the comfort but hard life songs of cowboys. He and Dee moved to the Seattle area in 2000. They traveled up from Anchorage to Fairbanks, viewing the majestic Mt. Bill was forever a fan of Jayhawk basketball, and he played the game well until injured in his 60s. William was a farmer, cattleman, and carpenter and she was a homemaker, mother, and a nurse’s aide for the Minneola District Hospital for many years. Other survivors include: his son, Leon Lee Ebeling, Meade, Kansas; daughter ConniJo Ebeling-Bailey and husband Jonathon, Brainerd, Minnesota; brother, Dwight Ebeling, Wichita, Kansas; 2 sisters, Nila Ebeling, Dodge City and Lila Julian, Newton, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Abigail, Bruce and Kelly. Survivors include one son, Glen David Feldman, and one daughter, Nancy Ohnick both of Meade; four grandchildren, Darla Walker, Jay Dorsey (Crystal), Jana Orth (Mark), and David Feldman (Sharon), seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Don was active in the community where he served in the Liberal Noon Lions Club; serving as President up to July 1, of 2018 and Liberal ELKS Lodge #1947. After her graduation from the Bible Academy, she attended Tabor College in Hillsboro. But his true passion was helping people with their horses, even offering advice to strangers when he noticed someone having trouble with their horse at a show. After graduation, Duane hitchhiked to Denver to join the U.S. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade. A year later, per her father’s wishes, she went to Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with interment in the Plains Cemetery following the service. He is survived by his mother: Denise Amaro of Coldwater, KS; his grandmother: Shelby Huslig of Fowler, KS; his sister: Andrea Koch of Wichita, KS; his dog: Lucy of the home; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was born on December 12, 1945 in Scott City, Kansas to Earl and Edna (Douglass) Leslie. As a young girl she attended school in Minneola, graduating from Minneola High School as Valedictorian. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, including Genevieve Ediger. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, but was most fond of being with her grandchildren and attending their many events. After his discharge, he began working as truck and automotive mechanic. She started her teaching career in 1943 in Pretty Prairie, Kansas. She was born October 11, 1932, at Minneola, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Edith (Foster) Harris. After graduating Don joined the US Army where he served on active duty for four years and then four years with the Army Reserves.
